Probashi — those who live far from home, yet carry their culture, language and food wherever they go

Millions of Bangladeshis live as probashi around the world. They carry the smell of mustard oil, the sound of monsoon rain on tin roofs, and recipes written only in memory. This restaurant is our way of sharing that suitcase with you.

Our Beginning

It Started With a Craving

When we came to Canada as children, almost everything was unfamiliar—the language, the weather, our surroundings, and the way of life. But there was one thing that still felt like home: our mother’s cooking. At the dinner table, the aromas and flavours transported us back to Bangladesh—to the food our grandmother and aunts made, to family gatherings, and to the comfort of home. When so much around us felt new and unknown, those familiar flavours kept us connected to our roots. Our mother devoted her life to raising our family, and cooking was always at the heart of our home. As we grew older and watched friends and family fall in love with her food, we realized what we had always taken for granted: our mother had an extraordinary gift.

This menu is inspired by some of her most beloved dishes, along with the street foods and traditional flavours that make Bangladeshi cuisine so special. Our restaurant was created to give you more than a meal. We want to take you on a journey through Bangladesh—through its food, culture, colours, hospitality, and traditions. If you have never tasted Bangladeshi food before, we hope you discover something unforgettable. If you grew up in Bangladesh and have been away for many years, we hope a familiar aroma or flavour brings back a beautiful memory. And if you have recently left home and find yourself missing your mother’s cooking, we hope you find a little comfort here. Every detail—from our food and drinks to our décor and uniforms—has been thoughtfully chosen to share a piece of Bangladesh with you. Thank you for joining our table. Come for the food. Experience Bangladesh. Leave with a taste of home.
